it's about time we countdown

you know, it's incredibly surprising that a community like couchsurfing exists! as the name suggests, couchsurfing means you surf other people's couch, which also means, when you are in a foreign country, there are actually kind souls out there who will free up their couches/mattress/bedrooms for you, in exchange for some experience sharing with you. interesting, isn't it? there's absolutely NO financial obligations but it is recommended that you should, at the very least, do something or get them gifts to show your appreciation. it's really heartening to know that such a voluntary community exists. do check it out: www.couchsurfing.com.

and for the coming june europe trip plan, this is what we are banging on for our accommodation. it really saves ALOT of money. :) (hostel prices are especially exorbitant in europe) and what's better than a local bringing us around to show us the real side of europe?

ah, speaking of the trip. i hope you do know by know that i am ditching singapore for europe for the entire month of june. yes, i am. ;) and i am prepped and ready for the grand EUROtrip'09. okay, maybe just mentally ready. i've yet to pack all my clothings, toiletries, shades, cap, first aid kit etc., and for god-knows-what reason, numerous bottles of nivea moisturising lotion (all thanks to chups) into my rented 40L+10L backpack (a millions thanks to my bro's friend). but rest assure, i will get everything done by thursday (hopefully) so that i have some leeway to accommodate for any last minute emergencies, which always happen. :/

well, things have been pretty smoothsailing so far. for the first half of the trip, accommodations are secured (through CS) and hopefully, by the first week of june, the later half of the trip will be settled as well. i've sent over 200 requests, got 80 replies and probably about 10 near-positive answers? it is quite difficult to find hosts, especially when europe is summer in june, which means peak travel season. but don't worry, i will make sure we have a shelter over our heads, even if it means sleeping at the metro stations. haha.

anyway, i will be bringing a laptop along so no worries, i'm still contactable. and i promise that i will post all my stunning and mind-blowing photos up online so that you can enjoy them and at the same time, envy me. haha. ;)

i am really excited over the trip. it's quite obvious, right? :D
