come what may

things happen. and no one can foresee or prevent them. regardless whether if they are for reasons, things always happen. sometimes in good ways, others bad.

the road is never smooth sailing. do not expect it to be a long straight stretch, nicely paved, properly positioned, painted with road directions and decorated with stunning sceneries by the sides. more often than not, all we see is a trampled trail. with fallen trees and countless traps along the way. with beasts lurking within the convoys of misguided trees, patiently waiting for the perfect chance. or somehow there is a poorly dugged ditch which was left behind by predecessors. and all it takes is for our eyes to take a breather under this dark and gloomy canopy to find ourselves on our faces. or perhaps the one trail we always see spreads into three. and then we face a dilemma. what next?

i think this is what sets people apart. it's about the race. the race within. the struggles and difficulties. the race to survive and the fittest will. the race which determines who will emerge top first. the race to find out where to go when the trail spreads? what to do when the beasts appear? and how to get up when the face is on the ground? it's always about the race. the race between the tortoise and the hare.

but more importantly, i think it is also a phase. a phase which, at some point, everyone will have to go through. so when you are in it, please do not procrastinate like the many others beside you. take it head on. deal with it. move on. remove that fallen tree. move on. pick yourself up from the ditch. move on. choose the track. and move on... no matter how difficult it is.

i'm sure, one day, the road will become smoother; the sky will turn brighter; directions will show clearer; and beautiful sceneries will appear.

this road to self-discovery. always winding. never easy.
