caught in the pictures

i just had a movie marathon; caught 2 movies in a day. granted, tickets were expensive (it's the weekend), but the money was definitely worth it.

i walked into the cinema and caught zodiac, without knowing what to expect. it actually turned out to be more than a pleasant surprise. the movie was sophisticated and compelling and it really grips you from the start til the end. true enough, the movie consists of like a thousand and one characters (you'll often mix up the people and their names) and was rather complicated at some parts. this dialogue-driven film just kept going on and on and it was rather difficult to catch up with what was delivered. but the overall story and the dark humour just kept me wanting for more. and to get better understanding, i'll be watching it again; this time with subtitles.

and for ocean's thirteen. what can i say? this film was way, way too cool. i've never watched the previous installment and thus was rather hesitant when my friends wanted to catch it. it proved to be more than a good choice. the storyline was simple and the script was funny, though not exactly the HAHAHA-type of funny. the film was intelligent and well-casted. it must have cost a fortune to produce such a movie. anyway, this is good stuff. even if you, like me, have not watched the first two installments, go for it still. it's that good.

i'm really pleased with myself for watching two great films today. it's been long since i've spent such quality time in theatres, and with great company as well. it's always fun to hang out people whom you're comfortable with. even if we say nothing to each other, we know we enjoyed the company. ;)
